Job Title: Delivery Driver

Location: Des Moines

Hours: Full Time

Description:

Responsible for operating motor vehicle to transport heavy equipment and/or parts with use of flat bed or goose neck trailers. Will only be required to haul equipment up to 20,000 lbs. Following safety procedures is critical to this position. To succeed as a delivery driver, you should be polite and prompt with a commitment to providing our clients with an excellent experience. You should be thorough in ensuring orders are properly fulfilled, instructing customers on basic heavy equipment operating procedures and committed to work safely and be passionate about satisfying customers.

Qualifications for candidate:

  • Receives scheduling information
  • Loads trailer with outbound heavy equipment
  • Contact customer (or destination) as needed to confirm location/directions as required
  • Assist in loading and unloading heavy equipment
  • Loads any heavy equipment to picked up or moved to its next destination
  • Minimum high school/GED education
  • Excellent mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to operate trucks, agricultural, construction, and consumer equipment
  • Must be flexible and highly organized with the ability to work independently
  • Must be honest, respectful and trustworthy and demonstrate sound work ethics
  • Valid driver’s license, with CDL endorsement

Job Title: Engine Repair/Welding/Service Technician

Location: Des Moines

Hours: Full Time

Description:

Engine repair:

Highly skilled engine repair mechanic to diagnose, repair and replace equipment engines. Experience and knowledge along with troubleshooting on all types of equipment including skid loaders, excavators and medium to heavy equipment.

Welding:

Highly skilled and driven welder to fabricate and assemble metal structures and equipment using proper welding tools. Welder must be competent using welding equipment and follow all safety precautions. Must have steady hand and great attention to detail. Knowledge of different kinds of metals and their properties is essential.

Service Technician:

Highly skilled and driven mechanic to service and repair heavy equipment. Experience in diesel knowledge along with troubleshooting, repair and diagnostics on all types of equipment including skid loaders, excavators and medium to heavy duty equipment. Employee must have strong work ethic and manage multiple repairs at once. Must have general working knowledge of machine operation and specific techniques and operations.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Set up, operate and maintain welding equipment
  • Assesses equipment, structures, materials, and job specifications for appropriate welding positions and methods.
  • Fabricate and assemble metal structures and equipment using welders, cutters, shapers and measuring tools
  • Operate appropriate equipment to put together mechanical structures or parts with great deal of precision to meet customer and Nichols Equipment specification and satisfaction.
  • Demonstrate high degree of proficiency and accuracy with repairs
  • Fill out accurate work orders and all other paperwork that applies
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance
  • Manage multiple repairs at once
  • Strive to grow in mechanical areas of machine repair
  • Follow all safety rules and regulations in performing a safe work environment and take an active role in maintaining a safe work environment
  • Work with team members to ensure high quality work
  • Work in team environment with a positive attitude
  • Must follow handbook regarding dress code for the service department

Qualifications for candidate:

  • Minimum high school/GED education and prefer three years of experience in construction equipment maintenance, service repair and welding
  • Must be flexible and highly organized with the ability to work independently
  • Must be honest, respectful and trustworthy and demonstrate sound work ethics
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record, preferred CDL and forklift certification
  • Own proper tools (attached list)
  • Knowledge of hydraulics, hydrostat, engines, electrical, fuel systems, and/or charging systems
  • Willingness to learn

Job Title: Yardman

Location: Ottumwa

Hours: Full Time

Description:

Responsible for organizing and maintaining all equipment in the yard. Must have solid work ethic who manages multiple tasks at once. Must be flexible, learn and assist multiple positions as deemed necessary.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Greeting customers in friendly and professional manner.
  • Assist customer with parking for unloading and loading.
  • Visually check equipment and take necessary pictures.
  • Determine applicable fees such as washing and damage.
  • Ground Maintenance; keep equipment neat and organized
  • Assist with photos and videos of equipment to be listed.
  • Presentation/Order/Parking of equipment on the yard.
  • Attaching Nichols Equipment codes on equipment attachments.
  • Able to complete assignments with little or no supervision.
  • Assist with HE Parts in pulling Nichols Equipment parts from warehouse. Assure parts are organized in the warehouse.

  • Minimum high school/GED education and prefer three years of experience in construction industry and customer service.
  • Excellent mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to operate trucks, agricultural, construction, and consumer equipment.

  • Valid driver’s license; prefer Forklift license.

Job Title: Sandblaster/Painter/Detailer

Location: Ottumwa

Hours: Full Time

Description:

Description includes but not limited to: detailing and painting on heavy equipment for rent and sale, detail cab, brake clean entire machine, paint undercarriage/bobtach/bumper, tailgate, touch up tilt cylinders and front step, clear coat cab/back grate/safety bar/rime, install new decals

Qualifications for candidate:

  • Minimum high school diploma/GED education. Prefer auto body training or similar work experience.
  • Prefer forklift certification
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Must be detail oriented and manage time effectively
